Tootsie Rolls!

(using home food storage dry milk!)

2 tablespoons butter, softened (or margarine)
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup dry milk powder
1/2 cup white corn syrup

DIRECTIONS:Mix all ingredients together. Knead like you would for bread. Roll into rope shapes and cut into desired lengths. If too soft, add more powdered milk or cocoa powder and adjust to your taste.

Safe Sex on the Beach!

(aka: monogamy)
1 part orange juice or grapefruit (depends how tart you like it)
1 part cranberry juice
1 oz peach nectar
1 tbsp grenadine syrup
maraschino cherry or pineapple wedge

Mix equal parts of orange/grapefruit juice and cranberry juice, add nectar, and pour over ice.
Sink the grenadine, garnish with a pineapple wedge or cherry, and serve.

Apple Crostata

Rustic Apple Crostata

1 pkg of refridgerator pie dough (2 crusts)
4 large apples (fuji, gala or pippin)(Peeled, cored, & thinly sliced)
1/2 c. sugar
2 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg (freshly grated is best)
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

2 cookie sheets
apple peeler/corer/slicer (or have fun!)

Take dough out of packaging, allow to warm up slightly.
Unroll the dough and place each one on the middle of a cookie sheet.
Toss apples with sugar and spices.
Place 1/2 of apple mixture in the center of each dough round.
Sprinkle with walnuts
Fold edges of dough up around the will not close, you will see the apples in the middle.
Bake at 400 for about 30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
This makes 2!
You can try fitting them onto 1 sheet pan or you will most likely have to bake each one seperately.
Serve warm or allow to cool.
Serve plain, with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
This is really good the next day for breakfast!

Sprinkle/Confetti Cupcakes

My daughter has an attraction towards fun-fetti or sprinkled cupcakes.
However I will NOT buy this:
Brynn's Funfetti Birthday! Pictures, Images and Photos
ICK! So if you are feeling festive and want sprinkle cupcakes....also known around here at confetti, funfetti, sprinkle or polka dot cupcakes then heres what you do.
  • Make cake mix...per box directions or homemade recipe.
  • Line cupcake pan with liners AND lightly spray with cooking spray/Pam.
  • Fill cupcakes about 3/4-4/5 full.
  • Sprinkle batter in each cup with whatever colored sprinkles you want. (jimmies style sprinkles are preferred but crystals will work)
  • Use a table knife to mix into the batter.
  • Bake per box directions or recipe.
  • You've now produced confetti cupcakes!
  • Cool on rack.
  • Frost with icing and sprinkle some more!!!

The BEST Virgin Mary Mix EVER!

This recipe comes from the restaurant I used to work at. Yes the one I did my externship at during culinary school. I worked there for almost 1 year and aquired several of their recipes. Of course the restaurant rarely served it virgin. If you are a fancy tomato juice lover then you'll surely like this. If you're a boozer, then the instructions for portions are below.

Virgin Mary Mix:
1 large can of V-8
1/3 c. worschestire sauce
1/4 c. siracha
1-2 T horseradish
3 pinches of salt
6 twists of pepper (mill ground)
1 T roasted garlic puree
2 limes (juiced)

  • Mix all together.
  • Serve over ice with celery/olive/dilly bean garnish.
  • For drinkers use 6oz mix plus 2oz vodka.

(Chocolate Chip) Banana Bread #1

Some might say the chocolate chips are optional. Some might substitute nuts. I say do whatever you feel like. Mini chips are good too. Victoria recently suggested using peanut butter chips. Hello...domestic diva in the making? Peanut butter chip banana bread? Yum! I'll be trying it soon.
Heres Brooklyn helping:
Serve for breakfast, toasted. Serve for dessert, diced up with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce & sliced bananas. Yeah you heard me!

Banana Bread:
2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
dash of ground cloves
dash of nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/3 cups mashed overripe bananas (approx. 4 bananas)
1/2 bag chocolate chips (about 1 1/2 cups) optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease 9x5 loaf pan (or cupcake pan).
In bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar.
Stir in eggs and mashes bananas.
Add flour, spices, salt & soda.
Stir until just combined.
Add choco chips.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. (About 25-30 min for cupcakes)
Let bread cool slightly before turning onto wire rack.
